Glad to hear the lake is up! Last fall it was so low the motor had to be all the way up before we could get to the dock. A lot of the nearby boat lifts had to be placed well out from the shore.

X2 on the wind there. When it blows out of the SW, it's a wind tunnel about 14 miles long. Definitely not an ideal lake for a small boat. The Bergland ramp was closed for paving on our last day last year, so I had to solo my 30hp 16' tiller from Bergland Bay to the State Park into angry 6-8 foot seas. Worst ride of my life, and that's saying something.

Same thing when it comes out of the Northwest. It's got 14 miles to build up steam.

After speaking to a few guides on Gogebic, I'd say stick to the deeper weed beds in the lake for both walleyes and perch. Also sounds like trolling the lake is one of the better walleye techniques during mid summer. Planner boards and hard baits. Bait shop at south end will let you know what baits are catching fish at the time you are there.

Here's some tips & info, you Lucky bum.

Buy groceries at Settlers Co-op in Bruce Crossing on your way. Eat the brisket at JW's BBQ & Brew. Eat breakfast at Antonio's. Eat burgers at The Hoop.

Ask Sarah & Tim & the new hired hand about the fishing; they'll tell you.

And watch out for the spiny water fleas. Good luck.

Thankyou. Just got off the phone with Sarah. Very nice lady. Looking forward to it. I was taking my dad to Canada but this is our 2nd best option considering all the circumstances. Very much looking forward to even further social distancing in a 17 ft boat with my dad.

    I had the brisket at JW's BBQ a few years ago & I wasn't a fan. Breakfast at Antonio's & burgers at Hoop'n & Holler was good.

Must depend on the night. My friends were wishing they had my brisket instead of their pork.
