I heard scary rumors of lakes still iced over last week? Has spring started to arrive up there yet? I'm hoping for some good smallmouth fishing the first week of June. Any one willing to give a report on how the lakes are doing/water temps?

    Thanks!

Might be headed up there tomorrow for a few hours of fishing focusing on smallmouth. Elk, skegemog, bellaire, intermediate or smaller lakes? Where are they crushing them right now? Thanks in advance! Don't need coordinates, just a few lakes where the fish are active with low water temps.

Skegemog was tough Saturday. Water temps dropped form 62 to 54 in three days leading up. got a couple smallies and a nice largemouth. a few toothy critters mixed in. squarebill cranks, spinners and chatterbaits. Wind kicked up and in 10 minutes we went dead calm to 2 foot cappers so went to smaller inland lake and water temps were 63 and tore up some fish! There were both smallmouth and large mouth on beds!

Fished Skege for a few hours this morning, Northeast side of the lake. Water temp was 55-59. Didn't see many beds in the area and only caught a few smallies throwing cranks. I'll be back out in a few days.

Low to mid 50s east of there around Grayling. Fish were hunting in schools and my best strategy ended up being sitting on a point and letting them come to me. Largies, smallies and 'eyes. No pike anywhere which was weird.

Fought the wind of Skege today, really makes me want to buy some Talons . Water temp was 60-63, did good on the Northside. Went over to Elk for a few, water temp was 52-55.
