Ive wanted to try Bear Lake for those trout for a few years now, that could be a fun PlanB and looks to be with perch and gill equipment.

Yes, they are all over the lake with machines, I havnt been on it in a few days but I saw people all over yesterday & didn’t hear of anyone swimming. There’s a few different road end accesses & the boat launch in west bay is easy access as well, just depends on what your after. I saw pictures from a fellow ms member from yesterday, he had a really nice brown he had caught out there & a nice walleye too! I usually only see 1or2 browns out of there a year but they’re always dandy!

Thanks for the info. We will be targeting walleye and perch. That area is actually or secondary plan because we are staying kinda far and fishing a lake I have already walked. I plan on for sure coming around there for at least a day depending on how day one goes.

yes there’s 4 wheelers and snowmobiles running all over. Depending on how you haul your 4 wheeler trailer or not you may want to stick to boat launch areas

how does everyone feel about the warm up? I think if the lake had decent 4+ inches then those lakes should hold up. But I know we're getting a few nights without below freezing. I'd love to get back out there this weekend.

Bear Lake Kalkaska - there is still thin ice towards the middle of the lake. It looks like you should be OK within about 300 yards of shore. I found 1 3/4 towards the middle - not enough for my big butt.

Rain for the last hour & a half & 35 degrees here in eastern kalkaska co, I was on our pond a bit ago, ice was still fine with about 1/2” of water on top. Should be some smooth ice when this locks up!
