    Hey guys,

I was recently on a backpacking trip to Isle Royale and these little ducks were swimming around in front of our campsite. They appeared to be alone and without a parent duck. The three stuck together and were diving a lot. I dont know much about diving ducks and looking for an ID on these.

They were quite small which is why I assumed they are juvenile but I could be wrong. Black bills and redish brown heads.

Yup I think you both are right. Looks to be a Goldeneye. I also asked on the Isle Royale forums and the one person that responded also said Goldeneye. They are fairly common there per the IRNP bird list. So that's what I am going with! Thanks
