"Deer RegulationsWildlife Conservation Order Amendment No. 6 of 2020 Page 2 June 18, 2020 Liberty and Independence HuntsThe Accessibility Advisory Council (AAC) requested to add a qualification for the Liberty and Independence Hunts to include deaf individuals as defined by section 2 of 1937 PA 72, MCL 408.202. “Deaf person” means a person who is not able to process information aurally, with or without amplification, and whose primary means of communication is visual or by receiving spoken language through other sensory input, including, but not limited to, lipreading, sign language, finger spelling, or reading. The Department recommends this proposal at the request of the AAC. Allowing a relatively small number of additional hunters with disabilities to participate in these hunts will provide additional recreational opportunities and another weekend of public and private land hunting for these newly qualified individuals."

Why were the Tracy and Creagh Amendments not listed?

The timing of the Governor's Appointments was very convenient for the MUCC and this vote wasn't it!

    What was/were the Creagh amendment(s)?

Also, will the new commissioners be allowed on the NRC prior to confirmation by the Senate?

Yes and I would expect that their first meeting could be their last if they vote/behave contrary to what the Senate wants to see on the NRC.

He wants a week strictly reserved for muzzleloading hunting at least on public land.

That will not matter if they were brought on board to get the deer regs passed. New commissioners should not be allowed a vote until approved by the senate.

Giving up a week of SL public Muzzleloader so that folks up north have more time to shoot does on private with a rifle is asinine. If they want the seasons to match why don't the people that want more does shot...do it with a muzzleloader? If you're struggling to get within muzzleloader range of does on private land in December, maybe you don't need an extra week to shoot them anyways. Of course, none of that even matters if they just allow anyone to use a regular firearm at anytime...

Obviously the Senate is not doing their job in a timely fashion. Maybe it’s time to replace them with someone who can.

The folks that I know up here could care less about matching up the seasons. We like muzzleloaders and have plenty of opportunity. Thank the DNR and MUCC for another brilliant idea :) .

I know I would prefer a separate ML season for each zone so it provide more opportunity. Those of us willing to hunt multiple zones and cold weather would love it. Every zone gets 10 days but the season stretches out for 24 days as it progresses through the state. If you can’t figure out what zone and dates are open you shouldn’t be allowed to even handle a firearm let alone hunt with one. The quiet period between and ML season firearms would be progressively longer the farther you move south. Late archery season would not be impacted anymore than it already is with concurrent seasons.

Zone 1 first Friday of December to 2nd Sunday
Zone 2 second Friday of December to 3rd Sunday
Zone 3 third Friday of December to 4th Sunday

I'd rather see the muzzle loading season in Zone 1 moved to October. December is usually just miserable here, and many places are no longer accessible.
