Did Fish Point freeze up yet? Heard there was a half inch of ice all over this morning. Not looking good for tomorrow with 14 degrees and calm wind tonight.

Thanks for the heads up. Just called Fish Point. They had 25 parties but between an inch and two and a half inches in the field. Lot of guys just came back in he said after they could not break it up. Sigh......maybe going to try the bay shore.

Not being a fish point hunter does that mean all the birds kinda move out? What if it thaws?

There’s open water around and a ton of new birds you just gotta do a lil homework. Got a two man limit yesterday and a one man today. Good luck

Was there Friday and it wasn't frozen but the corn was starting to lock up.

Went to the bay yesterday, got there and it was about 15 degrees when we got there, over 10 degrees colder than the weather report said. Almost everything was frozen. Farther out it was open but we didn't want to risk it with the dogs, so I went home. Just not worth it for me having to worry about the dog.

Yes a lot of dives and mallards that left the managed area offshore. Lot of shooting all afternoon yesterday. Head stuffed from a week of duck and grouse hunting so I took the day off and was tortured listening to all of the shots out there!

Well I was thinking about heading up there over Thanksgiving weekend. With the weather looking like it may thaw things up will the birds move back in to the unit?... Educated?

Don’t mean to hijack the thread but we will still probably give it a try this thanksgiving weekend for a PM hunt just to say we went. With as many ducks On the refuge count you’d think you could find at least a couple stupid ones!

I realize this is a pretty dumb question but do the shooting areas in the corn zones face toward the refuge or do the back end of the zones face the refuge? Pretty important to know when you’re tryin to play the wind. Thanks so much for any advice!

They decoy openings do face east towards the refuge this year so great for west winds.
