Anyone live on or near the Kawkawlin river? Looks pretty nasty down there. This is from Facebook.

    Edit: this is Castaways.

'76 was easily the worst in my memory.

In 76, we strapped on the ice skates and traveled the roads. Skated to my buddy's house that was 4 miles away. As a 14 year old kid, I remember that storm as being a whole lot of fun.

I remember 1976, it was crazy. The details are lost on me, I just remember everything was caked with ice. I was just 14 years old then, my folks did all the worrying...LOL!

I do remember the winters in 1978 & 1979 rather vividly though, I was starting to drive then.

Omer  wouldn't think computers existed in that little town.. Little ride from there to Oscoda isn't it ? Stay safe. Isn't Omer the smallest town in MI ? Drive through on my way to South Branch for deer opener.

So far, the Cedar swamp has been spared. No ice on my driveway at all. It started about 9AM like it was gonna be bad, but whimpered right away. Maybe 3/8ths inch of granular stuff on the deck, but that's it. They say it will start up again in a couple hours. We shall see.

It's a bit of a cruise, 49 miles. I don't mind it though. And yes they claim Omer is the smallest City.

I planned to grill today and this weather isn't gonna stop me. Venison burger, brussel sprouts, some Van Winkle, and the Platte.

Well, no work for me today. Can't get out of the driveway. Went out at 4 to start my car and let it thaw out only to find one of my pines gave up the ghost. It fell right between my car and my wife's Jeep. Hit both but doesn't seem to be any damage, I haven't went back out in the day light to check yet. I got drinking coffee and watching Deadliest Catch, the weather seems fitting.

I noticed two more are broke off but caught up in the others. They are whipping like crazy so I'll hesitant to go out and start cutting yet, don't need one coming down on me when I'm paying attention to the saw and not the trees. I need to thin some out, they were planned too close and some are dying, seems mother nature is helping me out. Lol
