...and please, for the love of all that is holy, please rinse your reels after you get off the water. Salt is no joke! This is probably some of the worst salt corrosion I've seen. As you can see here, it ate right into the aluminum.

Fishing salt can be a religious experience alright. (But so can fresh)

Yup, give the gear a good rise down when you are done. Do not forget the rod guides.

A gentle rinse is all that's needed, like you're watering your wife's flowers. If you let the hose rip, it'll force that salt into every little crevice on the reel.

Just buy another one. Use it and abuse it. Salt water fishing is ok. I have salt water fished a lot for years.

Fish hard enough to wear out your equipment before it corrodes lol. Splashing a bottle of water on sensitive stuff helps or buy stuff that does not corrode. Aluminum and salt is not a good combo just like steel and iron. Stainless all the way.

That's what I told the customer. He bought that reel 35 years ago, definitely got his money's worth.

Even stainless gets pitted. Just look at an older saltwater boat. That cheaper stainless infused with chinesium is really bad

A lot of the time it’s not because it has Chinesium in it, but from improper handling that deposits bits of ferrous materials on the surface from tools or just touching something. For installing stainless fasteners, people that know what they are doing us stainless tools to avoid this issue. So the Chinese part could actually be made right, but they cut corners and botch the handling of the part and it causes the same problem.

My dad's Key West was a prime example of piss poor stainless. These old cats would scrub that boat after every trip. Yet after a few seasons the stainless rub rail would bleed

Pick up some stainless screwdrivers if you want to impress your high end customers.

Who makes something good? I use Wiha screwdrivers right now but never thought about stainless screwdrivers.

Between A and Hole. Some refer to it as "taint".
