I'm going up to my cousin's lake house for the first time this weekend, debating whether or not to bring my boat to fish for smallies. I've done some research on this forum etc, if anyone wants to share some pointers on Hubbard for this time of year I would really appreciate it. Sounds pretty similar to a lot of the ultra clear lakes up north with minimal weeds, etc. Thanks a lot guys!

id always bring my boat, Hubbard is a beautiful lake to be out on, picture perfect.... but now the fishing.... ya ummm, Ive been fishing on Hubbard as an adult for over 25 years, and ive been going up since I was very young..Comparably, Hubbard Lake is the hot chick in high school who sometimes winked at you but shoots you down every time you asked her out... tough lake to fish.. bet.

I've been lucky to fish with a family who's been up there for generations. They know the hot chick well, and introduced me to her... Among many tactics that work for them, one of the most effective and least frustrating is a simple lindy rig . 18" leader with a leech or half a crawler drifted in 8'-15' where the rock sizes change from smaller to bigger. That will get you plenty of fish. Including perfect eating walleye. That lake has an absurd amount of crayfish as well. Good luck

Hot chicks up at Hubbard ? .. one more thing besides the walleye that are hard to find up there ... side note , last august 25 boats competed in a walleye tourney , all seasoned fishermen and 12 boats did not even catch one fish

We couldn't keep them off our perch rigs 3 weeks ago. Problem was they were all small. There you go bueller!
