I'd guess that fish at 11#, and nice going! Still had a couple faint rays in his tail. I love it when they get that squared nose.
All good guesses. I didn’t weigh or even mess with him much. At 30”, 10lbs is what I would expect, as mentioned above. However, this fish had a lot of girth. He even had the classic big hump before his dorsal. I figured he was 11-12lbs. Good, solid fish. This has been a fun fall. That buck was the second steelhead to run me all the way out into the slack. There’s been some burners in the dips this fall.
Girth plays so much more of a role inch to inch against length. Generally I agree with 30” is 10lb with Manistee strain fish. With the extra shoulders on that fish I’d put him at an 11lb estimate - a great fish for sure!
