Some more than others...being "human" isn't license to acting like a douche. Most people have internal filters to appropriately prevent them from taking potentially toxic thoughts and transferring them into written or spoken words.

To be clear, I am not directing the aforementioned at you.

If that same doctor lived 5 miles away, he would save almost two hours a day which would mean he could see 5 extra patients a day, which at $150 per/visit is much more significant.

$750 per/day times four days a week, times 48 weeks comes to $144,000 and he gets every Wednesday off to play golf, plus four weeks vacation. That much extra income, he could afford a girlfriend and a wife, and he could take each one of them on a one week vacation, with the other two weeks off to go hunting/fishing with the guys he can brag to about it.

Unless, of course, it cost $1,000,000 more to buy a house of the same size 5 minutes away from his work, rather than an hour away. Oh and if he wants to hunt out his back door, the acreage for that isn't available next to his work. Add on higher taxes, other inflated costs of living, etc. etc. Too many variables to argue about, especially in a thread about a construction zone worker's death.

Look down at your phone and then look back up. Two seconds is over....don't text and drive. I pull over or wait. Good debate. Be careful.

Unless drunk or high, that more than likely was the cause

Yea, that was the two day delay like Esox said I'm sure. Driving while sleepy is bad too and that happens.

This is all a tragedy for sure. RIP young man. Bless your family in this terrible time.

Yup, this is likely why he waited too. Some places scan your drivers license when you purchase alcohol. And I imagine it's getting easier to see what or where you have been with these phones.

I wouldn't be too sure about that. Semis can brake ALL of their axles at once, and stop a lot faster than you would ever imagine. If they aren't fully loaded, they might beat your 85 mph Miata,

Damn you look old! Haven't seen you in a long time and the mug shot made me giggle...

My F150 has the power assist braking gizmo and it works just fine. One of the better new features in modern trucks unlike the "you left a baby in the back seat" alarms and the start/stop mess...

The outcome between accidents happening at 75 and 85 mph probably isn't going to be much different if any.
