Took a four man this afternoon upper US side. 20 Jacks to add to all the other jacks we have caught this year. Two about 20" and the rest 15"-16"

3/4 chartreuse with black ww or black/gold FinS

    Most on the big hook.

Well over 100 fish this spring and not one female. What’s up with that? Not complaining limits every time out is a good thing male or female right?

Boated a 20” female today that was still full of eggs. But generally agree, almost all the fish I’ve pulled from the river have been males. Maybe 5-7 females total for the river run.

We've been getting about one spawned out every 2nd or 3rd trip. Very few compared to the jacks

we saw and caught a nothing but females late april. Its all location and technique. Some years I have cought them in late may all post spawn females and no small ones under 4lb.

If you are fishing the same spots with males then you will probably catch nothing but males all year

I posted a thread about how many small females, 2015 yr class, people were catching.or not catching I should say. After quite a few responses and some additional research I think the answer is Male walleye mature at 2 to 3 years and the females mature mostly at 4 yrs with only a small portion at 3 yrs. So the nonspawning females have no reason to come into the system with the rest of the fish. The 2019 Spring run should give us the answer.

I still have a leak in my live well plumbing. I plugged the live well intake for now and the interior is dry as a bone. Just have to keep the jacks on ice

Mostly location. There are not that many females in the system this year, because as others have said, the males reach spawning age earlier. However, for those females that are around, they are not typically in the same areas as all the smaller males. You will generally find them shallower and in areas with less current than the males. As I have said many times, if you want females, you have to fish for them, and have patience while watching everyone else catch males nearby.
