We are heading to hardy dam this week for our yearly camping trip and staying at newaygo state park. I was wondering how the fishing is and what should we expect? We typically target small / largemouth bass, pike, and panfish. This is our first time at hardy dam. Thanks in advance for any information!

I was out yesterday and caught a small mouth by accident as I don't target them,I have heard there are quite a few

Fished for crappie there before and found them in brush files close to shore

I was after walleye and did best in the 25 to 28 foot range pulling crawler harness

During the week you should not have as many boats out, weekend's can get real crazy

Thanks for the feedback! We will be here tuesday through Friday morning. We may go for some walleye too, but we don't really have much experience with walleye

Fished yesterday also, was very slow. water was like chocolate milk. hope it clears up for you. Try 2 inch floating rapala for top water bass if it is calm.

Fished Hardy a few times. Launched at Big bend (expensive). More of high speed pontoon lake .Supposed to have big Northerns but I have never caught any above 27 ". Not much vegetation , and some fishing requires to be really deep . I don't really like it that much for fishing . I have a couple spots that produce Northerns (which is what I mostly target). The lake itself is beautiful .Not hardly a cabin on a giant impoundment , that is the coolest part about this lake .

Was able to launch boat at 131 bridges. No dock in yet. We did pretty good yesterday. IMG_20180302_194232197.jpg
