Usually tip them with a minnow hooked through the tail, so they stay nice n lively and swim around...By far my favorite ice fishing lure, gonna try them out on open water next season im sure they would work for still fishing perch.

1/2 minnow most of the time usually just the head...sometimes they want the hole minnow....minnows or wigglers work best for perch IMO,

Also when hooking them using just the head, I come up through the bottom of the mouth and poke um through the skull right between the eyes...feel the "crunch"

They also work great for smelt with a small pin minnow, whole or head...

I stopped at Northwoods Outdoors Outlet in Pinconning on the way home from a hunting trip, and they had hundreds of Hali jigs on display; different sizes, glow and plain - all $4.49.

I am hoping that these lures are comparable to hali's. I just had a buddy move to iowa for work and lives 2 mile from a sporting goods store that sells these lures. conveniently he is coming home the beginning of Jan, and will be bringing me a few home to try. cant wait

I found something called a jig minnow. Not sure if they are the same as the jigger minnow. But they are the same premise as the Hali. Glow and regular. They were at a small store in GR.

I was lurking around this post and saw that there are also 2-packs of chain/hook from shuck's for 1.79 or 1.99 for treble.. under "accessory tackle"
