When cases of CWD are initially discovered in a NEW county, seems a lot of people who own land and/or hunt there care. For example, see the thread on CWD recently being discovered in a Newago County deer farm.
Trouble is no one wants it (except maybe you and a few others around here) in their counties, but no one wants to do what it takes to contain the disease.

Why kill all the deer to protect them from something that is going to kill all the deer?

    Joe,
Not sure if you heard but there is nothing anyone Can doe about it! No cure! Killing deer doesn’t slow the spread! CWD doesn’t hurt people either. Heck I think I have some cwd jerky I just made from Kalamazoo. Maybe some from Monroe also.
Do you think there are prions in Monroe? I mean you act like your a biological researcher or something!
The average person knows all this is talk. Talk all you want and try anything it won’t work the stuffs been spreading for decades. Shoot all the deer you want it won’t help! The dnr can’t even tell you how a deer gets infected with cwd.

Yeah, not like it’s in just 1 township. Looks like the whole state to me.

Reducing population densities without protecting yearling bucks while still maintaining some very good opportunity really isn't "killing all of the deer".
No doubt! This is where we will just have to agree .... to disagree.

....and one guy quotes what has been known as "the best science" from day one, and the other completely ignores it?

And yet the DNR/NRC encourages shooting entire family groups of does, 10 antlerless tags per person and in all but a few CWD counties

I agree population densities need reduction in some areas regardless of disease, but why kill them all? Have you done your part?

Rather than hunt so much in low density areas, why not hunt the higher density areas you have access too, to help the problem.

Again, I am not an advocate of "killing them all".
When the opportunity was available, I have hunted (and taken) quite a few deer from one of the CWD management zones. That option was taken off of the table the last couple of years due the the farmer's neighbors complaining.
I also hunted Livingston county this year, took a doe, and had her tested for CWD.

“The best science “ has a batting average of 000%.. I’d find another player to route for.

It seems like "the best available science" has become a convenient talking point to bash the MDNR, NRC or fellow sportsman. JMO.

I do not think that anyone anywhere has been able to reduce population density without protecting yearling bucks.
A good analogy would be that the "best science shows that wearing seat belts saves lives".
If people don't wear a seat belt, this becomes pretty meaningless, eh?
