Hey Skeeter, use the search function to find previous threads on Grand Lake, although just north Alpena its in Presque Isle county. I'd also suggest contacting Bud and Lorie at Buck's Bait, they're on US-23 just south of Grand Lake, near Long Lake which is another destination you should consider if your going up that way. ;)

Lots of ice, perch have been slow, but being caught none the less. 12 - 14 ft has been best. The area around Whiskey Point has been producing good sizes with an occasional keeper walleye. Can't tell you about Long Lake, as I haven't been there yet (new to the area). Good luck, and let us know how you do.

Was up last weekend. Trucks on the ice. Group of guys set up on weeds 10-12' next to a couple foot drop off out front were running back and forth chasing their tip ups all day. Have seen great reports from grand all year with pictures to boot. I've been seeing people in shallow and deep water fishing hard and doing well. I'd start with shallow weedy areas for perch and sparsely vegetated flats in the mid depth range of the lake. Take note where everyone is fishing on a given day.

Another slow day. Fished from Brown island to south end of lake. Talked to lots of people. No one I saw was doing very good. Good thing the beer is cold!
