I was told today by one of the designers that the $100k price is a little off the mark of what has been reported. He told me it will start at $112k, but their goal is to make it more "affordable" down the line, to the tune of $80k within 5 years. I kinda dig it and feel GM is bringing something good to the market. If anything, this will spur the development and production of models from competitors. I'm sure the Wrangler and Bronco will come in electric only variants at some point.

They are exploring segments that value torque over range.

NO Thanks not for any Vehicle Too Much even if it was only 80K. Odd Part is the Volt Has had fire issues of Late? Possible Battery causing them?
I am good with Silverado on my limited Budget!

Great, I would only have to stop once to charge to get to Lake Erie. Mackinaw would be a two day trip!

Charges 100 miles in 10 minutes.
I'd absolutely get one if the pocket book would handle it.

I like it. Impressive performance and range for such a heavy vehicle. But $112k? Even at $80k...The Bolt is $40k! EV vehicles are not affordable enough for the masses and who knows how effective they will be on the used market once out of warranty...and batteries age. No one seems to be thinking about the little guys. Great, we get EV's, but the bottom 40% of people get stuck with $5/gallon gas? No thanks. I'll stick with my $25k GMC Sierra (what it is worth now).

Jeep is coming out with a hybrid Wrangler next year. That Hummer looks a Chevy Avalanche...

Or longer if they happen to be having rolling blackouts because of all these electric cars on the power grid

Maybe it's there but I didn't see it, but what can or will it tow anything?

It'll probably sell great in the inner city. An Escalade replacement

Hopefullly the Jeep hybrid rolls out better than their 48v system did.

Executives get the early vehicles to try out and one nearly burned down an executive house in an executive neighborhood.

The launch was delayed so many times,we started bringing bags of marshmallows to meetings. They were not amused.

Another way to look at all this new technology is to thank all the stupid rich people for buying it.....and pushing down the future price of gasoline for our older cars. Unless the US Government steps in....I think cheap gas of $2-4 is here for a while.

But I do like the Hummer EV. Looks like a cross between a Avalanche, a Range Rover, and a Bronco all in one. The power is definitely impressive.

Trying to dance around being political, and risk getting this thread locked or deleted...it is a well known policy of one political party to restrict fossil fuel production and use. So much so that it will inevitably drive up the prices. So you would be correct...unless the government steps in...depends on who's in charge.

The long range plan is geared toward the end of actual vehicle ownership. There will not be a used vehicle market eventually.

Vehicles will be leased and then returned at which point they will be recycled to make a new vehicle.

In twenty years actually “owning” a vehicle will be a novelty.
