I took my boat up north to dismantle, paint and re wire before the steelhead season starts. I found a couple cracks in hull and had them welded up from trailering over the years. I cant wait to get back on the huron for a battle. I haven't fished all summer, I haven't even bought my fishing license yet so the anticipation for this fall fishing has me gunning to get out there.

Between work and remodeling the home, I did get the bottom painted . 20200920_130612.jpg
My weekends are becoming scarce with work picking up, I may be sitting in wet paint for my first steelhead trip.

Looks good! Anyone else have any boat projects/ upgrades they’re doing to get ready for the fall?
Been thinking of building a new removable rod rack for plugging

They are planted as smolts and return as adults to spawn from Lake Erie. Some enter fall and spawn late winter, early spring while others enter throughout the winter during high water events. Not to forget about spring run fish that enter, do there thing and return to the lake very quickly.

Painting went pretty good, tried a handheld sprayer for the first time. Thinning paint and tip selection was a guessing game but looks good enough. 20200926_111409.jpg Going to let paint dry for a week then get to assembling and wiring. Bring on the cold rains and get this season a going!

I got the front deck carpeted and nav light wired, mounted switches but forgot anchor- stern light mount. Boat will be done this weekend and ready for steelhead!

Put the finishing touches on the boat today and she's ready for the steelhead season. I might have to fit it with wheels if we dont get some rain soon to fill the rivers .

I dunno Elk.....boat looks too clean, too professional, too fancy. Where is the steelhead blood, the character lines, dents and scratches that the Ol Woman Huron dishes out....where is the bird-nest fishing line....the bent trebles from battling beasts, the shoe box from the pair....

Don't worry swamp there will be blood in that boat soon, be it the steelheads or mine. I've been known to get bloody while fishing over the years. We don't get some rains there we be dents and scars from lack of water under the boat.
