Anybody try planting sugar beets and clover mixed together in one plot? (Clover for early season beets for late season) or will the beets over take the clover to fast?

Sugar beets don't like any competition but the clover would produce nitrogen the beets love. I had soybean and sugar beets together last year and they did ok. I prefer to plant clover in the fall with a cover crop like wheat and rye.
