Hunting NWLP haven’t had a woodcock point since Saturday, up until then it was very steady. Do you think we are in between flights or is it done for the year? Have not read any recent reports from the U.P.

They also group together during the process including the local northern birds in my opinion.Less scattered but when you find them it is non stop action.

I hunted Dickinson county last thur-sat. There were plenty of woodcock there even with the 23degree nighttime temp one night and 2 inches of snow. Have to believe some are coming.

Ive been getting them into November each year, even on snow. More concentrated but good numbers when you find them. Thermal cover (conifers) scattered in traditional flight bird popple covers, and sheltered benches along travel corridors.

Most local birds have boogied on out and flight birds are trickling in. Most likely the big major push will happen after season closes as it does most years. Woodcock don’t need to leave a area till the ground gets to hard to prob for worms. If a little early snow bothered them they wouldn’t show back up till May.
