My brother moved to the UP 8 years ago now and has been hunting public land ever since. The first thing he wanted to knock off the list was taking a black bear so he did, a couple times actually. But he was not able to harvest a legal buck throughout his time up there. Needless to say this could drive any hunter crazy! He resides in northern Alger County. He's been fortunate to harvest does, turkey, grouse, partridge and basically anything else but that UP buck! This past fall, 2017, he was finally able to connect. A story 7 long years in the making! Couldn't be happier for the guy and doing it in the UP has a certain sense of pride behind it because my family is originally from Calumet. Has anyone else gone through a long spell without harvesting a buck in the UP, or anywhere else?
