I settled into my blind at 5:15 this morning over looking a grass field and two hen decoys. for the next thirty minutes I sat down listened to the crickets sing and birds chearp. I heard my first gobble at 5:42 then nothing for the next four hours and eighteen minutes!!! I gave a few cuts and yelps every half hour for the next two hours with no responses. by 8:30 I was nodding off in my chair and woke up around 9:30 tried logging on to "live from the blind" but had no reception :banghead: I sat my phone down and peeked up to see a tom and two Jake's running in to my decoys from 80 yards out on a full sprint! slowly... I reached for my gun raising it to my cheek... here they were silent at 50 yards with the first bird full strut, bright red head, tail fanned out and chest puffed out. I took aim as he moved closer and closer till he was right where I had a perfect shot. At 30 yards I squeezed the trigger and harvested my biggest thunderchicken too date!!! TWO BEARDS 10 and 6 inches with 3/4 in spurs and a beautiful tail. weighing in at 23 pounds and put a smile on my face that will be hard too shake..
