I had an 8 pt chasing a doe hard last Thursday.
She was probably an early participant.
Just starting to see some rubs.

I also had bucks chasing does this weekend in Mason County. Small scrapes around and several rubs.

Rut is always earlier on even numbered years.

I'm guessing a very frigid winter is coming so the deer know it's time to stock up on the fat from acorns and corn.

Same concept for cold front hunting. Animals know when it's time to store up reserves.

I was out scouting this afternoon and saw a Doe get up from her bed and so did her suitor, a 2-3 year old 8 point. She browsed around a bit before walking off, he guarded her rear the whole time.

&%[email protected] I just cancelled my early Nov. vacation that I've taken religiously for the last 29 years.
Definitely an early rut, just as Nostradamus had predicted for 2020. It's so we can get a few quality hunts in before the asteroid hits.
There is also this evidence. I have personally seen several scrapes & rubs and witnessed a male whitetail deer that goes without breeding for several months at a time, nosing around a doe.....ALREADY.
re-scheduling my time off for the rabbit-rut in mid-December. Well, unless I hear that's going to be late again like last year.

Sounds like classic post rut activity to me! I was seeing bucks with does on my cameras in August. Should be some magnum BBs for @November Sunrise to chase next year!
