Thanks for a nice addition Steve!
alone the color selections can be the real DUDs if you will.
If it's in your tackle box it has already caught one sucker.
Nice addition to Forum subtopics...
way to go steve
GREAT addition Steve ! Good poll Robert, bet Ya don't have to guess how I voted . C-man
Yeah - me too.
I know some guys loathe Rapala , but I bet they have "Whiner Tendencies" (only when their Wife 'lets them' though...LOL).
Besides - I saw that Steve did another POSITIVE addition to the site - and I had to try like hell to be the first under the wire in this section!!
I got the first post here by SECONDS. (bobcolenso was right on my heels around noon today!)
I don't know if they all catch fish, but every one I have does.
Every Rapala in my collection does as well with the exception of the rattlin rapala. Can't buy a fish with these! And I have a bunch.....
So ofcourse, I had to have the new version the Clackin Rap as well....no fish on that either! (have not fished it much)
I have a bunch of rattle traps, CC Spots, and yozuri's and can't buy a fish with them either. Something about that style of lure and me just don't jive.
the rattle trap is one of my favorite pike baits. they absolutely love those things.
My grandfather had one that we always used on their lake up north. So I went to the store and bought 2 of the same size and color as his. All I have to say is his still worked and mine one of them worked about half as good as his and the other didnt turn fish at all. and no it didnt matter who was tossing it because we passed all three around the boat many times.
Try a rip-drop-rip-drop retrieve in and around weeds worked fairly fast...
Fish will POUND it when they want it.
So do Musky.
I am not nuts! True story. Fishing bas tourneys, there were a couple lakes that I would fish exclusively with Traps. There were tourneys that this lure was phenomenal. Other teams would ask us what we were using. When I would tell them they would laugh and call me a lier because they could never catch fish on those things. Finally I had to change because the lure was in bad shape. I noticed my catch reduced by 60%. Kind of thought it might be the lure based on the others telling me their bad luck with them. Grabbed another out of the box and catch rate instantly increased. I really hesitated telling my partner because we harass each other so bad. One day I told him my theory. Next tourney we are in a group of smallmouth schooling shad and my partner asks for the lure I claimed was jinxed. He starts throwing it and proceeds to catch 1 as I catch around 10. He looks at me and proclaims, "You may be right." My partner being a little more scientific than me, I the gut instinct dude, decides we need to buy a bunch and really investigate this theory. So we purchased 10. The next two weeks we proceeded to put that theory to the test. Out of 10, 2 had a catch rate that was phenomenal., 3 we couldn't hardly buy a bite on and the other 5 were mediocre. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind those lures are not made equal. We have tried to tune etc... but damned if we could figure it out. So today I use a lure that is void of all chrome and it still kicks butt.
AAAWWWwwwwwwww... c'Mon Ray!!
You're just superstitious....
Some nights they can just SMOKE the kings off the piers. And when your speed reeling that thing and it gets freight trained, better be holding on man!
