For those that are against the fee there is a reason behind it. This new license would have to be introduced by and passed by the legislature. There has been little interest to put any effort into drawing up such legislation in past years. The promise of added revenue would be a motivating factor to forward this proposal and get some buy in. The proposed license is for use in a boat only. In it's current form it is also only for Great Lakes and connecting waters but inland waters could be included if it's strongly advocated for. If we're honest with ourselves, in the grand scheme of fishing boat ownership $26/year is barely a drop in the very large bucket

I know what a "double" and "triple" mean, but what should I call it when I have six fish on at once when fishing solo?

I'm also in, 90% of the time I am fishing solo, and it really eats at me that I can only run three rods. So for that little cost I'm in. And it goes back to our fishery

Is this an actual proposal by the DNR or someone's wet dream?

And for those that are against the extra fee gave their reason for not being behind it. As the other thread that had a survey shows, most were not in favor.

The poll asked if people would buy the license not if they were in favor of it. And your opinion is quite clear. Everybody is entitled to one. I was merely explaining why the fee was included to others who may not have known. If you would like to drive the process for a proposal not including a fee please feel free to move forward. I would prefer that too. It got no where last time it was tried.

Not a DNR proposal. A proposal being forwarded by the Great Lakes Salmon Initiative. Mike Avery is a fan of it and covered it on his Facebook page Wed night. Im guessing thats what generated the facebook post the OP saw

If you had to buy the extra license only thing that would bother me is being checked by the DNR all the time. I'm in favor for the extra lines so just make it free

salmon and steelhead fishing is already on a steep decline in our state...this will just further hasten that decline.

Just make the extra rods legal why does it always have to be pay for play?
