Ok maybe not wildfire but damn this disease!!
But I thought they were going to stop it by decimating the deer herd?
You forgot banning bait, having maprs and also banning maprs, killing all yearlings to prevent dispersal and killing all old bucks bc they have high prevalence, killing does to thin the herd and killing button buck also to prevent dispersal. I think I covered it.

Wow - those numbers are dire.
Hmmm spreads fast in farm land with no baiting.
That's scary stuff.
What's even scarier is to imagine that that could be us one day soon.
Anybody know if Wisconsin people are seeing a fair amount of sickly deer? Seems with that high of a percentage positive - would be quite a few showing signs of cwd.?
With us using same regulations it's not could, but when, is more of a accurate description. Soon is more of a personal interpretation.
I reckon the good news is only about 25 positive each 400 deer overall.
Scariest thing to me is the thought of a false negative test.
We better hinge cut the border.
Just do what many around here seem to do... Put your hands over your ears and yell "LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA"!
We had our chance as hunters to thin the herd (note THIN, not decimate), while not protecting yearling bucks.... Hunters simply will not do this... end of story.
Think of Wisconsin in 50 years.... Michigan in 100.
Well lets see what the dnr does in the UP
It really isn't about what the DNR will do... it is about what hunters will NOT do. Hunters in the core and management zones are still going out and seeing 30 - 100 deer in a single filed.
