Might be going up for the eye opener. How much ice still??? Thanks MS!! Shrubby
There is still some limited ice fishing going on here. Around the edges of the lake the ice is getting pretty sloppy with some open water. Farther out there is 18 to 20 inches of good ice and slush on the surface. Our ten day weather forecast is for day time temperatures mostly in the upper 50's and night time temps. above freezing (upper 30's). If I was to bet I would say these lakes will be fishable on the May 15 opener but I wouldn't bet the farm. It's hard to say. I can keep you updated.
Lakes still frozen in central UP. Next week will soften things up
I just received a report from my neighbor on the south lake. The bay we're on has opened up. The main part of the lake still has ice, but it's going fast.
Thanks Mike. We will be heading up there June 9th. Will pm you when we get closer to the date.
The ice is just about gone on the south lake. My neighbor put his dock in this morning. I'll be going up next week to put mine in. Ok Mark, PM me anytime.
Yeah, the south lake appears to be pretty much wide open. Looking at Big Manistique from the boat launch in Curtis it looks like much of the lake is covered with very "rotten" ice. It won't last long.
Can't see any ice on the big lake today.
Is the ice gone on Big Manistique? What would the water temps be now? Thanks
Yes it is gone. Surface temp is 46 deg. on both lakes.
