Things could be worse .............
No little 'bow killin' here! I only use barbless hooks in the off season (unless I'm gonna eat them) and feed'm live bait when possible. I don't pull out the cranks till the biggies are swmming in.
I've only fished for steelies out West, and we're very protective of our fisheries. Out there, I use Rap Countdowns, but replace the tail trebles with #2 or #4 octopus hooks. I've seen many-a-steelhead get their faces messed up with tail trebles. Plus, a hook set with an octopus on a tail is safer and stronger (IMO) for fish & angler. Going all circle or J-hook can help w/ snag prevention as well, but personally, I miss a lot of hooksets when I do both belly and tail hooks.
Have fun out there!
By the way... thanks for the river beta!
Please avoid the river this fall/winter/spring.
Lol that is the most ******** article I’ve ever read
I bet I can get him to bite a hot n tot!!! Guessing pearl ghost will do the trick!
brings a new meaning to catching a 'gator'
Headed there now to catch him with my musky rods
Forget pinning for steelhead and Kings. Time to drift chicken under a float

Hot n' Tot indeed! Don't forget your 200 lb leader and ball bearing swivels for the death rolls.
Let's just call Troy Landry and get it over with already...too bad he is in Louisiana...I guess for Michigan, of anyone I know, I'd call Swampbuckster...C'mon man!!! We need to hear from you on what to do.
looks like someone will be getting gator skin shoes, purse, and wallet for Christmas!! hahaha but in all seriousness. in this day the fact that there has been multiple sightings and not one person had a phone in hand to get a video.. I call it bogus
Last year I was able to fish the fall couple days a week this year is going to be extremely tough to get out because of virtual learning, having a 4 month old baby and my wife under going treatments. Has anyone been out to the river yet since the temps have been cooling down?
The only reptiles we come across as nuisance animals are snakes! Large glue traps inside of a dark box with a cotton ball and a drop or two of mouse urine in the center. That would be a helluva glue trap though!!!
