Wow this is a worst nightmare situation with a climber stand. What do you do in this situation??? Also tether you’re climber pieces together!

Glad I was 25 lighter and could bear hug the treeo_O

  7. Why would anyone use a climber with out having both pieces tied together? Sometimes you just got to laugh and turn around and walk the other way!

I’ve had this happen a fair number of times, except the 2 pieces were tethered together. Also, my seat is with the top portion, I use life lines too.

Thats what they make those sections of ropes attached to the stand for is to tie them together. Thats some tough luck right there.

Thankfully that was a hunter safety story, about how this happened to the instructor's friend and he ended up dropping a distance and messing up his legs and ankles for a while.

Yeah, even a short length of paracord can make a difference.

This actually happened to a buddy of mine. First thing I asked was if he had his wallet and to throw it down to me....lol lol. He actually dropped his lift rope to me and i hooked the base on to it and he pulled it up. This is a good reason to either have a radio in your pocket to stay connected to others in your group if you don't have cell service also always carry your radio or phone in your chest pocket.

Happened to me a few times...but I got my summit pieces teathered together with a rope... always. Otherwise I'd have to call my husband and I'd never hear the end of it :(

Fear of this scenario led me to add thirdhand straps to the original tether, in addition to having a Treestand wingman for the worst case scenario.
