This is a great thread. I haven't fished for carp in a long time but my carp fishing memories are definitely 2nd to none. I used to get so much enjoyment from it and I have to get back to the fun.

Tom, I appreciate the statement, but there are guys a lot better than I am. I just really really really love the sport!

I have a couple spots where boats can be an issue. I started back weighting my line. I just took a smaller egg sinker and would clip it on my main line after I casted it out and got all set.

My favorite pack/method bait is chicken feed, oatmeal, sugar or kool-aid, add some water and mix until it has the consistency of wet concrete. I always loved fishing pack baits. Ball up your mix around your method lead, tie a hair rig to your hook, jam the hook into your bait ball and chuck it out there. I'd use this inland, never used it in a river

Can't go wrong with a can of sweet corn threaded on a hook if you don't want to get fancy lol. I still fish a lot with just corn and do very well

Junkman, we weigh them in a calibrated scale and then remove the weight of the sling. It came in at 25-25.1 pounds.

We do not take any others as we try to get them released as soon as possible after the photo.

    Fancy looking bait there :)
You guys are much more cutting edge than me.

Years ago I would use dough balls made from corn meal. Later went to corn kernels, then shredded wheat. Biggest one I ever caught was on a plain old nightcrawler, 36 1/2 inches long and I really think it may have weighed 30 lbs. Probably nothing more fun than carp.
