20201127_161155.jpg Forget shopping, wife and I hit the Grand for some steelhead action this black Friday. First 2 fish came quite quickly once we made it to our stretch of water running mags and some custom paint lures. Had a short break so enjoyed some bananas as we looked for more areas to fish. Took us about 2 hours but then landed the boats personal best at 35.5 in on a new color pattern lemon lime. Hotrod custom paint and chrome landed earlier steel. Water around 42 degrees all fish came in 8ft to 10ft. Sorta liking this river the more I explore it. Ok I'll fess up wife brought all fish to the boat but I netted them, you should see how well I can net fish. 20201127_125758.jpg 20201127_161019.jpg 20201127_162143.jpg

I just drive the boat and net her fish. I quit competing with her, I'm happier at the end of the day.

That's a great day for sure Elk. Now you just need to bring some of that good luck back over to this side of the state. That's a beautiful double stripe beast. Nice job!!!

Hit the Grand today and netted 2. Big fish 30" and a 25 incher. GFR and gold flatfish lures worked today. No specific area more like keep going till something hits. I thought a bit of sun was going to help , no dice.

I fished the grand fri from shore and wading, no bites for a few hrs then got a severe ankle sprain and had to basically crawl thru mud and sticks back to the car...2020 seaaon is over possibly since I cant walk right now.

Glad to see someone did waaaay better than I did Friday. Shows me I just need to quit steelhead fishing til I can get a boat. 33 river hrs 0 bites isnt worth it. Lol

Fish bathing in the brine and hitting the smoker Tuesday. This is the largest batch of smoked steelhead I've done at once but then again I fish the Huron river a lot. That Grand river is ok in my book. 20201129_184857.jpg

You are totally right. Shore/wader fishing steelhead is nowhere near as enjoyable as fishing from a boat. I got 2 from shore all October in many hours, and in november I started fishing them from a boat and have gotten probably 20.
Don't give up, just buy a boat!

Out of the brine and getting ready for smoke. I'm hoping to get a batch in tonight but not going to rush it. 20201201_150506.jpg
