Seen a pileated woodpecker in yard today but it did not hang around long enough for a picture. Still very cool to see one this time of year.

Put these in another thread yesterday, but I'll put them here too. Crow with a few white head and flight feathers. Red Tail stealing the meat.

No one seeing evening grosbeaks?? Way back they were thick around here but havent seen and in over 40 yrs.

What about crossbills? I had just moved here and was driving to town and saw a couple strange roadkills. Stopped and they were crossbills, one kinda green. Never seen any again.

Have only seen them in the UP by trout lake and whitefish point. Love them. One of my absolute favorites. Saw some crossbills where blind sucker river empties.

I had some evening grosbeaks a month or so ago; they did not stick around.

I had a small flock of about 10 of the grosbeaks around here in Battle Creek for a couple days this fall. I didnt know what they were until someone else posted pictures about that time. A few people said they had not seen them in several years.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen an evening or blue grosbeak?
A few red-breasted invade the humming bird feeders every spring.
(What are they thinking with that beak?)

Finally got that sob raiding the bird food and causing other general destruction.

Thats a cool looking bird there, I think I will try getting a hummingbird feeder with a bigger perch and see if I can draw any of those in. I hope you are staking that trap down, I had to hunt for mine once. Darn rodents.

The red breasted grossbeaks show up every spring. That's when I quit feeding because they are pigs. They will set and eat for twenty minutes or more and won't let the other birds eat.
