House bill 5180 0f 2017 was introduced yesterday.
It would legalize Airbows for all game, plus add stipulations in some circumstances for disabled hunters.

With the way the bill is written, just about anyone would be able to use an air bow during bow season.

    (B) ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:

OF THE INDIVIDUAL'S DISABILITY OR PHYSICAL LIMITATION THE
INDIVIDUAL SHOULD BE ABLE TO TAKE GAME WITH THE USE OF A PNEUMATIC
    AIRBOW.
(ii) WITHIN 6 MONTHS AFTER TAKING GAME WITH A PNEUMATIC

HAS EXAMINED THE INDIVIDUAL AND DETERMINED THAT BECAUSE OF THE

Well, if I had an airbow, I should be able to take game just I like could with a crossbow, shotgun or rifle.

Having seen pictures or "Airbows", where is the "Bow" part?

It shoots something that looks like an arrow, I see no difference between an airbow and a modern arrow gun.....oops I mean crossbow when it comes to taking a deer. Once you strap a stock to a "bow" it is no longer archery equipment, it is a gun, what difference does it matter if it is propelled with air or any other overly complicated pile of parts. It is still just another contraption that was never conceived of being used when archery season was first established. Right wrong or indifferent it does the same job as any other arrowgun.

    bow
    bō/
    noun
a weapon for shooting arrows, typically made of a curved piece of wood whose ends are joined by a taut string.

I will give in to the fiberglass laminates and even the wheels, but once it has a gunstock attatched...It is no longer a bow in my opinion. It is a gun, guns have stocks, bows do not.

In summary what ******* difference does it make? That is the true question. The "archery" and "bow" ships set sail long ago. A bow is two spring levers connected by a riser and using a string held somewhat vertical in the hand to fire an arrow. Just my opinion of course and it is worth exactly what you paid for it.

I didn’t know what an airbow was so I had to google it. 202 yards off hand is impressive.

It does not matter what I think, it does not matter what you think. It only matters what those that make the rules think. If they think it will put more money in the coffers.....alakazam it's a bow. I do not know if we'll (you and I) see it but someday there will be no bow and gun season...........just deer season. Technical leaps, management, hunter attitudes, laziness, and disease will see to that in time. How much time is the only real question.

I would love for this to pass. Airbows look really cool

Wish they would legalize smokeless powder in muzzleloaders. Every other state has.

I totally agree !! A person only get's so many DEER tags does it really matter if it was killed with a bow,gun ,muzzle loader or atlatl !! What gets me is the people that make shooting a compound bow sound so difficult! I've been shooting one for about 40 yr's . I've did the 3'd courses, weekly leagues, even did the WORLD shoot in 1995 . If a person can't pick up a compound bow and be hitting a target good enough to be bow hunting in 15 min they should just hang it up!

Pretty broad generalization that is not accurate regarding muzzleloader season.
