My offer to help anyone interested in DIY hunting still holds. There's a lot more to bear hunting than paying to sit on a bear bait. As for guided bear hunts with hounds, any hound hunter who is skillful enough to provide a quality bear hunt for clients without needing multiple "employees" to get the job done...is a genuine bear guide. Just for the record, I would like to see licensing and regulating of guiding...and requiring guides to pass a competency test, weed out felons & individuals with game law violation, require CPR and first aide certifications. Same stuff that had a full support from the 18 member Black Bear Coalition put together by MDNR back in about 2008. Scott is correct about me bashing MDNR over their past bear management. My statements and a whole bunch of other dedicated bear hunters where proven right back about 2010 or so when biologist Dwayne Etter acknowledged his bear model was wrong and bear numbers were down. You will not hear me complaining about Kevin Swanson's bear management. You will likely hear me pointing out NRC actions that do not comply with the sound science mandate in PA 281. Have never seen any posts from Scott directed at improving Michigan's bear management.
