I want to tie up some harnesses for trolling live bait. What is the best knot to use for the hooks in the middle of the line/harness?I

I am using 50 pound braid.

Snell all three, once you tie a couple harnesses they are pretty easy to tie.

Should I switch over to 80 pound mono so the line does not pull through the gaps in the book eyes? I am trying size 4 and 5 circle hooks.

Is this for a crawler harness or rigging up suckers for pike and musky?

    Think mackerel, AJs, and Wahoo.

    Think Florida off shore.

I lied. Number 7 long shanks and number 5 circle hooks.

Without knowing what you are going for...yeah I would use a mono as a leader.

Mackrel have razors for teeth. I'd use Tyger Wire.

I was thinking the same thing. Plus I tried to tie the 80 fluoridation last night. That stuff is stiff!

Although I will say for leader, where exposed, we get enough more hookups with fluoro to make up for any cutoffs.

I landed about a 15 pound plus king one time that had swallowed the hook with fluoro. The guide told me I should play th lottery. I thing it was because it was on a center-pin setup. If you really want to have fun, and friction burns, try catching Bonita on a center-pin someday.

There are a lot of variation with different snell knots. I use this one, both fir crawler harnesses and catfish/sturgeon leaders. As long as you pull it down tight, it stays that way with heavy mono. Some of the other snell knots like to loosen over time with stuff line.

For multiple hook harnesses, start with the back hook and work your way forward.
