I had this exact thing happen in 2012. Got up north, set up camp, and headed out to a stand location I scouted in the summer. On the way out I noticed several large fresh rubs. I thought, well this is good. Climbed up my tree (using a climber) and kept hearing a ruckus to my north. Got my stand set and just pulled my bow holder out and all hell broke loose. Had a huge 9pt come charging in looking for the other buck that was rubbing trees. I looked at him as he was less than 15 feet from my tree then looked at my bow laying on the ground which I hadn’t had the chance to even pull up. The buck saw my bow rope and looked at it all the way up to the blob in the tree, then turned and trotted up over the hill out of my life forever.. Probably one of the top 3-4 bucks I’ve ever seen in the woods in Glennie.
