    Thank you.

I choose a cell phone based GPS. For me it's the best to use and the cheapest to use. This is my opinion.

You rely on a phone for navigating the Saginaw Bay? I hope you have a compass! Cell phones always die when you really need them. I would never rely on a phone. Be safe out there!

The OP never said anything about navigating the bay.

And you are correct, no one should be without a true compass ever.

Not to contradict, you, but he very specifically said his main use would be navigating the bay. I wouldn't want to use my cell to navigate either. I'd hate to drain the battery trying to find a spot, then need it for an emergency situation.

Airplane mode would help with battery drain Mike - but nobody wants a dead phone.

I disable much of the stuff on mine and with a 3 amp battery - I'm usually in the low 80% unless I use it a lot with mobile data turned on.

1st question. Are you on wifi or using phone data? If you are using phone over the air for loading maps, it will take longer to load the maps you want.
2nd if you have not moved the map to the shore, all you will see is blank tiles.

I'll try to load up some screen shots a little later.

I think I will start a new thread. It's not polite to this thread starter.

So I figured instead of wasting a new thread I would post here , but thats fine too. i figuerd out the contour purchase , wondering now if there is a way to cancel out all the garbled up zero's behind the depth in feet. LOL

Why don’t you just start a new thread?
