I'm getting there, looking tomorrow at a Fishing pontoon, but did get offered what seemed to be a smoking deal on a 2016 leftover ALumacraft Voyager single console, would have a 90HP evinrude, Helix 7, and Ipilot on it and would be 24K OTD...thoughts?

17'6" It will get real small in a hurry. Every foot makes a huge difference in the sub 20' category. I can cruise with four comfortably in my 18'6" but three is the absolute tops for fishing.

you will have to give up river exploring with a pontoon.id stick with a alum.river /lake boat.dont think you would want the pontoon on the great lakes miles out either.ive got a lil mod v w/25 merc and I love it.can go thru bout 8 inches water or less on rivers.2 people comfortable,3 not so.sounds like your narrowing sizes down for the family.prob like esox says 18.5,go aluminum for more varied options(sh/salmon in fall) or ....buy both ;) just my lil 2cents worth
