Anyone else seeing bear?im in antrim and ive seen two sets of them already
Numbers are climbing in that part of the state. I grew up in antrim/grand traverse and no one ever saw a bear but that was prior to trail cam invention. My parents still live there and have them around regularly in last 5 yrs.
We have had them in the Jordan Valley as ln as I can remember. In the early 80's I ran across one at night hunting coons with dogs on 131 where the swamp is at the base of big hill north of Elmira. Always had them in the cedar River swamp and Hitchcock
I was up at our camp in frederic sat. A nice set of fresh tracks through the yard that looked like it was just minutes before I got there. It was snowing on and off and 30 mins later there was a dusting of snow in them. The tracks had to be really fresh when I first saw them.
In Antrim also and saw one on the property on Nov. 18th. Needless to say we left a little bit before dark that day.
Have had bear multiple times on camera in Gladwin county this summer and fall.
Had a sow and cubs at the north end of Torch lake this year
When do they go for the long nap?
Its kinda cool seeing bear but im seeing alot more bear than i am deer
I think they will wait until the food supply dries up or the hard freeze locks in. Right now its still raining and lots of bait piles out there. Well the sows will add a bit more fat before time to sleep. This bodes well for any cubs born. I had always heard the bores are the last to den up, any truth to that?
Have seen them in the yoop many times into the end of november and have come onto one in its den then as well. Peeked my head into the overturned stump and one was staring back at me. Seemed somewhat lethargic but didnt test him
