Anyone been out Bass fishing on Stony Creek Metro park. How's the lake look and bass biting?
I have had a ball flyfishing for bass on Stoney. First day out in June I caught five 3 to 4 pounders in an hour. I wade and fish Winter cove and the south shoreline of Eastpointe Beach.
Best fishing bait is bright pink rubber trout worms. Use #4 split shot a foot up the line.
Best fishing is from 5 to 7 PM
Action is good for perch, rock bass, small mouth, bluegills.
Kayak fisherman do well off Winter Cove in deeper water.
Nice I like that spot also, how are the weeds this year?
Killer first post Dave,WTG.
Hi Dave...great post and picture.
Unfortunately they have lowered the water level over the past two days. It has drop a foot...maybe two feet. I fished this morning and again tonight. Nothing is biting. Turned off completely. I will let you know when the fishing comes back. Picture shows lines where water has dropped in 24 hours.
Weeds are heavy but work well for me since I wade and fish the edge of the beds. Also the submerged road to the island on Winter Cove is free of weeds. Perfect wading. 5 or 6 pound bass roam that area.
Thanks Dave, I have a 21 foot bass boat, so hopefully I can get into that spot without to much trouble. Mite have a bass tournament there in two weeks.
If they keep lowering the water like they have in years past you won't be able to launch
Fishing back on at Stoney. I can now wade into open areas along weed beds. 3 bass Friday...Missed a nice heavy bass yesterday...tangled in weeds. Going to try off Winter Cove tonight.
