I have three points and will draw. Anyone want to team up?
My buddy moved to Iowa a few years ago. He just bagged a big 12 point weighing 293# live weight. And he says his "cousin's friend" got a huge non-typical, 238". Good luck!!!!
Do you need 3 points? I have 2 points currently along with my dad and wondering if we will draw with 3 points next year?
Depends where you plan to hunt. Some zones you can draw with 2, some you cannot.
Definitely depends on the zone and the season. I just wanted to make sure.
Are you leasing, doing public, or an outfitter?
I have two and would love to team up with someone but I’m getting married in fall 2018 so that’s out. If you push back until 2019 I’m interested.
i have 4 pts. might be interested
DIY type hunt. Either knock on doors, public land or lease. I have a few leads for unit 9.
I would concentrate on zones 4, 5 or 6. South central to south east Iowa is the best whitetail hunting this country has to offer. That’s why it usually takes 4 pts to draw. Once in a blue moon someone gets lucky and draws with 3 pts. Before I became a resident my last tag took 4pts for zone 6.
I have 4 and am looking at zone 5/6 public land. Never been, so im in the early stage of data collection..
johnhunter247 is spot on 4 5 and 6 probably the best area in the country to hunt. I hunted private this year zone 5 with 3 points most years it takes 4 to draw. I'm hearing mixed about public though some say a good buck is doable with the chance for a booner others say the locals hunt it heavy since many have lost their spots from outfitters, leasing, and super wealthy buying up farms.
I have 3 pts as well. I hunted public in Iowa in 2014 and can't wait to get back. Might be interested in going. I would like to get down there in the spring time to do some scouting.
I have 3 points. You are talking gun I assume?
No, I want to go with my bow. Zones 4-5 seem to be the only area that your not guaranteed with 3 pts.
