Did anyone have a sturgeon break them off recently? I ask because last night I snagged someone else's broken line that had a sturgeon on the end of it. That was probably a 1 in million chance of catching it. During the fight it ended up tangling with 2 other lines. Had to cut some lines & pull the fish in by hand (about 50 yards of line). The rig on the line had either a 4/0 or 5/0 octopus hook tied directly to braided line with a black sinker slide with orange beads on each end & a barrel swivel. Not sure what pound test it was but I guess it to be 65 LB or maybe more. If you would like your rig back message me. :D

BTW, the fish was 64" and not the state record that you probably thought it was when it broke you off. :p

It’s at least a 2 in a million chance because I snagged a line walleye fishing earlier this year with a sturgeon attached. I didn’t land it because the line it was on was something like 10-12 pound mono that broke before I could get it properly attached to one of my rods.

I cut em off when I hook one. Why screw around with a sturgeon for 40 minutes when you can box another 3-4 eyes?

    Wasn't mine anyway. Nice fish.

When targeting them you wouldn't cut em off.

    I hate fun too.

Its funny there probably really is someone out there telling the story of when they hooked up with the 200 pounder that spooled them.

A chunk of lumber dragging in the current puts up a really good fight with enough movement to make you think you snagged a fish in the tail.

My uncle fought a monster on 6 lb test. 3 ft up, 35" back down. Finally landed the piece of lumber.

I'd think there are far more sturgeon swimming around with walleye gear stuck in them than there are ones with sturgeon gear hooked in the mouth.

A snag I was pulling up to surface and it was pulling back, just at brink of breaking line and pole but not enough....thought for sure a 70" fish for a bit :lol::dizzy:
