Not even close to that in this case dish. I get hunting exists like that, but that isn't necessarily the norm everywhere. Many of these ranches don't do any baiting at all. They don't need to.

Spot on. Never ate a 150"+ whitetail, or any for that matter, that didn't taste fantastic. Some just continue subscribing to bar talk and Old Wives' Tales.

Yeah.....I actually enjoy digging up data that refutes silly claims.

I just have to be careful that I am not too good at it....might earn me a little ‘banned’ logo under my name. :hide:

Aside from the Montcalm deer farm CWD infected doe being 2 years old has there been any other information released? Are they following the CWD Plan for captive cervid facilities?

Seems kind of odd that hunters are not being told to kill young female deer in the CWD zone.

What do you suspect are being targeted with disease tags in the zone?
What is actually being targeted with disease tags in the zone?

The C.W.D. plan is not exactly hunters/tag holders being "told" what to target with disease tags but does mention family groups if anyone cares to read it ,or to comply with it.
Turning in antlers with heads is not an incentive to kill bucks, or being told to target doe.

Most landowners can figure it out if they understand what family group means.
Free tags take the weight issue/meat yield farther out of objection for those cutting up their own deer.

For those conditioned to refuse to kill anything but older deer , where did that concept arise from?
Squab is not for everyone. For varied reasons. With delicacy of dining no longer the best reason for killing such due to ......Fill in the fussy blank.

Obviously hunters must not have been listening. I drove north out of Lansing last week. There are an awful lot of dead deer through Montcalm county. Herds of deer in the fields too. It may be a good idea to not even have a closed season in that county. It’s the center piece of Michigan’s CWD out break. You guys must be so proud.
