This Turkey hunting has been a family affair since my boys were little. Easton was able to start a little earlier than his bigger brother's, because of the Mentored Youth Season the State implemented. This hunt was like any other, spent afield with two of my boys, Easton and Brendon. Brendon called on his way home from work asking if we were gonna head out hunting, and after a couple more phone calls we decided we would hunt this particular piece of property all together. Having an encounter with this big bird Saturday afternoon and not anchoring him then, we decided we'd give it another shot. Easton was out of baseball practice early due to the wet fields, and we were gone hunten. After getting set up, nestled in and waiting for the birds, it wasn't long and the hens began to show themselves in the fields. Out of no where this Tom came out of the woods, appeared in the field and the hens met with him. They soon walked out of view heading right towards where Easton and Brendon were hurriedly headed to, to get set up on this bird. The second the Tom came around the bend and saw the Jake decoy in the field he began to skirt this decoy, he skirted right into Easton's barrel. Easton dumped this mature Tom at 15 yards, punching his tag on another slob! It never gets old hunting with your kids. I thoroughly enjoy watching all their success. I'm extremely thankful! This bird had one spur that hit 1 12/16 inch, ******* unbelievable bird! 22.7 pounds whole weight.
