Governor doesn't appoint a replacement for congressional representatives like he can for the Senate...he calls for and sets a date for a special election.

I'm glad to see Franken go but like Tucker was saying last night and I said last week, it is pure crap that these women can come out over a decade later unnamed and throw out accusations and to destroy someone, I say prove it and sue them.

Except in dumb Al's case he poses for the camera in one instance.

When there is a vacant House seat the governor of the state represented by the empty seat is required to call a special election.

"House vacancies can be caused by death, resignation, declination, withdrawal, or House action, but the Constitution requires that they be filled by election."

    Civics 101

It's a good move by Franken, but something the party should have made him do weeks ago. In being consistent with no tolerance of sexual predators, the GOP will be under pressure to get rid of the sexual predator-in-chief. Franken needs to fall on the sword so people ask themselves "what about Trump?"

I think you ought to refrain from commenting if you can't recognize the difference between smoking gun evidence(Franken,Conyers) and 40 yr old unsubstantiated accusations(Moore).

That’s crazy, it seems a Bitcoin is kinda like a stock. I don’t know much about them besides bits you hear on the news

Dems are only belatedly calling on Franken to resign because they know his Senate seat is safely democrat in democrat controlled Minnesota.

They are NOT cleaning house !

Apparently that is the case. It's becoming one more currency in which some folks are starting to save on, like gold, US dollars (in many countries people accumulate for their retirement dollar billls, believe it or not), etc.

But in addition to becoming a speculative currency, it is also becoming a real currency. It used to be the currency used by hackers and other people in the "underworld" of IT crime. But it has been going mainstream for a while now. It is also a currency that is being used to skip money laundry regulations that have been enacted recently.

Up to last year it was easy to move bitcoins to dollars. For instance: you could get a credit card linked to an account in bitcoins (it was offered through a few financial institutions). But now that door is closing due to money laundering some say, and some others say it is just because the central banks of the world are "scared" that a currency without a central institution (there is not federal reserve or central bank behind it) is gaining ground.

But there are still ways in which you can cash out bitcoins. The easier is through 3rd party trading (capitalism baby!). As the acceptablity of bitcoin increases, you would are able to buy and sell any ammount of bitcoins either cash (it may be hard to legaliza later) or through bank transfer.

And to sum up the value of bitcoin over time: If you had 10 US dollars in ~may 2010 and bought bitcoin with that, you would have obtained 1000 bitcoins (at 0.01 each). Today, now, those would be valued at 15MILLION dollars ;)
