I’m 56 years old. I’m in that age group of those who had wood shop and metal shop in high school as electives, and never imagined at the time that things like cell phones and computers would be common to most individuals and households. The rapid advancement in everyday technology since my high school days is amazing when I think about it. Which brings me to the title of my post. I will start with this story, followed by my questions for those interested in responding. Recently, I had a conversation with a guy in his mid twenties. We were talking about some of the newer features on current vehicles. I happen to mention that I had several vehicles in the past that had a foot operated button located on the floorboard for turning on high beam head lights. I didn’t think much of it, but then realized he looked a bit incredulous, and I got the impression he thought I was trying to pull one over on him. In short, he had never heard of such a thing and was actually a bit astounded to learn this was actually a common feature on vehicles for many years. All of the sudden I realized that the floor button probably did sound archaic in comparison to modern vehicles. I then realized how “old fashioned” some memories might be interpreted by someone younger even though I’m only 56. So.... any similar experiences with you guys? Something that dates you with younger individuals even though you aren’t all that old ?
