Is anyone seeing much in the way of acorns near them? Hunted first 2.5 days of the season in Washtenaw County, covered a lot of different ground, and never came across any whites dropping.

St. Clair County the northern part has a TON of reds, the whites are there but not as thick. This pile was from 10 minutes with the leaf blower on my driveway. These fell in two days. Rinsing out the Tannin now then soaking in 19's for tossing out (easy planting) this winter. How many of these "Jelly Beans" would be in a five gallon bucket? 5000 future Red Oaks? How many trees are you planting this winter? IMG_8017.JPG

Same thing in Arenac, just tons of red oak acorns. I’m not sure I like having a red oak in my driveway.

Very good acorn crop in the area we hunt in Alcona county. To quote my buddy who was up there this weekend, “the tree where you shot you big 8....there are heaping hands full of acorns by the dozens around your tree.” Sounds good to me.

don't think we have any in my woods in northern Kent. See one squirrel in 4 sits. Usually would have at least 6 with a couple chipmunks mixed in.

Very few where I hunt in Ottawa County. Last year was a great year for them. This year minimal. Probably why the squirrels are migrating across the Grand River

There was 10-20 red oak acorns per square foot on a big oak ridge where I hunt in Crawford county last weekend. A decent crop down here in Monroe county.

Lots of acorns here in the Sanford/Oil City area Midland county. Kinda makes it hard to know which ones to hunt because almost every oak tree has fresh sign (tracks, droppings, shells).

Consider yourselves lucky! We had Gypsy moth caterpillars this spring at our property in Arenac county and there isn’t one acorn to be found on our property and we have a mature stand of oak trees. Sure hope we get some next year because we don’t see many deer in October without acorns.
