Thought I️ might be able to head out this morning...wrong! I️ made it down to the end of the canal via being an icebreaker but it ended up getting too thick! Hoping things warm up a bit as I'm watching lots of birds flying around out on the bay.

I agree! I do see a boat blind out there in the open water by my rig is too small to break the ice.

But the seasons are too early & we need more opportunities to hunt later in the year.

IMG_0844.JPG If this ice keeps forming I may have to bring the ice fishing gear tomorrow am if I can't break out of the launch in the boat.

Drove for 2 hours today and seen a total of 5 mallards. A few buffies and other trash ducks but that’s about it. All Lakes here have ice on them and all small water is froze up. Not sure where the hell the mallards are. I called PM and they said they still haven’t got a big push of mallard yet which goes in hand with what I’m seeing locally. Looks like another nice front coming through this weekend. Hopefully then the mallards will show up.

Mount your plate to a piece of thick rubber or a old mud flap that way it bends on entry of water or ice..Cant help with the tail lights your on your own for them..

Not sure if the picture will come through...

You can see the path we cut in the morning but we ended up getting stuck at the end of the canal as the ice was thicker there!?!? Was able to make it out in the afternoon but things were pretty slow and the ice was coming into us in waves. Didn't bother going out Sunday morning...decided to sleep in!!!

That’s not just north of Mud creek is it? That channel looks like the one behind our cabin up there.

I believe it is. We just bought the cottage at the end of the canal in October.
