Ok been reading a lot on the 350 in here and I can say 90% is over my head. Lol.. I have found ammo is hard to find right now. Shooting a savage 350 looking for a good deer bullet. Most of my shoots will be 30- 110 yards. I have 2 boxes of different shell now buying what I can when I can find it. Looking for the best knock down power. I have read 165 gr 180 gr 150 gr. I see Dunham’s has Hornady ammo but have not heard good things. What are you shooting and how has it worked out for you. Sent from my iPhone using Michigan Sportsman mobile app
Right now I have a box of Winchester power point 180 gr and a box of federal 180 gr. Still need to dial it in but looking for ammo I can get. Sent from my iPhone using Michigan Sportsman mobile app
If you eliminate the FMJ bullets for obvious reasons, there are only about 4 choices. If I had to shoot factory ammo, it would be 170 Hornady or 150 XP. But then again, if I had to shoot factory ammo, at this point I wouldn't have a 350. Hopefully ammo choices will have better options in the future.
I know I have choices just looking for real world experience. Sent from my iPhone using Michigan Sportsman mobile app
Thank you going to sight it in this weekend. Things I watch shows they did well also looking at the 150 gr xp I think I like the channel made in the gel. Just looking for others that have shot deer with a 350 Sent from my iPhone using Michigan Sportsman mobile app
I have shot deer with both the 150 and 180. Both got stuck in the opposite shoulder. The 150 shed a fair amount of weight. The 180 mushroomed perfectly and gave a great blood trail. Blood trail from the 150 was minimal. The 150 shoots same POI as the 145fmj. The 180 is quiet a bit lower.
In the below picture, my oldest son is holding a 150 grain Winchester XP recovered from a doe he shot during the youth season. My youngest son shot completely through another deer just before the oldest did. The exit wound is seen in the bottom picture. They both used the same rifle and 150 grain XP ammo.
This is what I looking for thanks guys. Does any one else have good information. Sent from my iPhone using Michigan Sportsman mobile app
the 350 bullets usually suffer from over penetration. I'd take 150 xp if you're shooting factory ammo. BUT if you're a shoulder puncher, heavier bullets would be a good option. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
I just bought 200 rounds of Winchester 180gr. Found it online at cheaperthandirt.com I'm putting a Hawke scope built for 350 legend on my CVA and the 180 grain is the ammo they use.
seen that at the local Dunhams last week, never paid attn to weight, just was on end of ammo isle as I passed by.
