    Agreed.

I wasn’t trying to be insulting in the least. I also saw his response.

Not sure I would eat one that has not been tested any more. I hunt in the Mgt Zone.

Can I ask the purpose for posting this graph?
Maybe I missed something that lead you to say you should of included this graph.

Ask any of the older members of you family. We used to watch prime time TV commercials with doctors recommending smoking.

Actually it isn't. They are killing 0.8 does or less per buck and the results are only slightly greater than 50% of positives being bucks. Doesn't look like a higher prevalence to me, they just killed more bucks.

Nonsensical claims by user rwenglish prompted it I assume. Others had commented on, or questioned, buck vs doe prevalence. The chart is just further evidence that user rwenglish's claims are absolute hogwash.

Whats "way more bucks than does"???

Are we talking 20-30 bucks killed per doe??

    100 bucks killed per doe??

For the most part, ~20% more bucks than does at a minimum in nearly all of the CWD Zone. Some areas are 30% or more higher buck harvest than does, yet the CWD positives are very close.

I ate some salami and jerky from an untested deer this year that was killed near my own property and about 25+ miles from the nearest positive. Was I nervous, no, but at the same time you know that there is a chance, even if it's less an 1% state wide and 0% so far from the area. It was my buddies dad's deer that refuses to worry about it. I get it... but testing isn't that big of a deal to me.

I looked back at the Harvest Report from 2017. It had totals from '14, '16, '17. I expect that was a typo and should have been '15-'17.
Average number of ANTLERLESS deer killed per year was 151,630 or 42.6%.
Average number of antlered deer killed per year was 204,499 or 57.4%.
If only 15% of the antlerless kill are button bucks, the buck to doe ratio goes to about 63:37.

So not even 2 bucks killed per 1 doe.

Might as well say 1:1, not nearly as bad as Luv attempted to make it sound. But hey thats what we do while pushing our own agendas

I don't think he was being excessive, but I understand your point. We do kill far more bucks than does though. That's a fact.

Just in the DMU's that I listed above, we killed 20,115 antlerless deer and 27,946 bucks. That's 7831 more bucks than antlerless deer, or 0.72 antlerless deer per buck.

Assuming all does are does and not button bucks, I calculated the prevalence rates of bucks and does over a range of doe to buck ratios. The prevelance is about equal at a ratio of 0.86. A lower ratio and the does have a higher prevalence. A higher ratio (approaching 1 to1) and the bucks have a higher prevalence.

I couldn't find the by sex prevelance on the DNR or mi.gov websites so I was curious. I will double check my calculations tomorrow.
